Which way should you order your PVC card?
| Your situation | Best route |
|---|---|
| Address is current and your registered mobile works | Order online with your registered mobile (preview shown) |
| Address has changed | Update the address first, then order |
| No registered mobile, details definitely correct | Order with another mobile (no preview) |
| No registered mobile, details may be old or wrong | Update your mobile at a centre first |
What should you check before you pay ₹75?
- Your address. UIDAI sends the card by Speed Post to the address on your Aadhaar. A card sent to an old address is a common complaint. Update the address first if needed.
- Your name, photo and date of birth. The card prints what is on your Aadhaar today. If something is wrong, correct it first; the card won't fix it.
- Your mobile. With the registered mobile you see a preview. Without it you pay without seeing the card.
- The fee. It's ₹75 in total, including GST and Speed Post. UIDAI raised it from ₹50 on 1 Jan 2026, as reported by Business Standard. UIDAI's own Online Services page still shows "Rs 50" in one place; that figure is out of date.
- No refund. In our experience the ₹75 is not refunded if the card isn't delivered or is returned (this can vary).
How do you order a PVC card with your registered mobile?
- Open UIDAI's Order Aadhaar PVC Card page on myAadhaar
- Enter your Aadhaar number
- Did the OTP arrive on your registered mobile? No: use another mobile (no preview)
- Are the name, photo and address in the preview correct? No: don't pay; update your details first
- Pay ₹75 by UPI, card, net banking or wallet
- Save the SRN (service request number)
- Card printed and sent by Speed Post
-
Open the official order page
Go to the Order Aadhaar PVC Card page on myAadhaar (link below). Check that the web address ends in uidai.gov.in.
-
Enter your Aadhaar number and request the OTP
The 6-digit OTP comes to the mobile registered with your Aadhaar. Type it only on the UIDAI page.
If no OTP comes: the UIDAI site is often slow or down. Try again later, or see Problems and fixes.
-
Check the preview carefully
A preview of your card appears. Read your name, photo, date of birth and full address. This is exactly what will be printed and where it will be sent.
If anything is wrong or old: stop here. Update your Aadhaar first, then order.
-
Pay ₹75
Pay by credit or debit card, net banking, UPI or wallet. The ₹75 covers GST and Speed Post.
-
Save the SRN
After payment you get a Service Request Number (SRN). Take a screenshot or write it down.
You'll know it worked when the page shows your SRN and a payment confirmation.
In the Aadhaar App: our counter team says you can also order the PVC card in UIDAI's Aadhaar App, for the same ₹75 including GST and Speed Post. The same checks apply: your address and details must be current, and save the SRN. See our Aadhaar App guide.
Can you order a PVC card without your registered mobile?
Yes. UIDAI lets you receive the OTP on a mobile that is not registered with your Aadhaar, for example a family member's. But no preview is shown, so you pay without seeing what will be printed.
- Are you sure your Aadhaar details and address are correct and current? No: update your mobile at a centre first
- Open the order page and enter your Aadhaar number
- Choose the option for a mobile that is not registered and enter that number
- Enter the OTP sent to that mobile
- Pay ₹75 without a preview and save the SRN
- Card sent by Speed Post to your Aadhaar address
We sometimes see PVC cards with wrong details when they were ordered from a non-registered mobile, because nobody saw a preview. With no registered mobile, we usually suggest adding the mobile at an Aadhaar centre first. Or get a biometric-verified e-Aadhaar print there for ₹30–₹40.
UIDAI's Online Services page has a broken link for this option, so use the main order page above. No mobile at all? See e-Aadhaar without a registered mobile.
How do you track your Aadhaar PVC card order?
- With the SRN: check your order status on myAadhaar using the SRN you saved.
- With the Speed Post number: once the card is dispatched, you get an India Post AWB (consignment) number. Track it on the India Post website.
- How long: UIDAI's PVC order page says up to 30 days (its Online Services page says 10 working days). In practice, at our counter, cards take 15–30 days.
| Stage | What happens | What you have |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Order | You pay ₹75 online | SRN |
| 2. Printing | UIDAI prints the card | SRN status on myAadhaar |
| 3. Dispatch | Card handed to India Post | Speed Post AWB number |
| 4. Delivery | Postman brings it to your Aadhaar address | Your PVC card |
Track on India Post indiapost.gov.in
What should you do if your PVC card hasn't arrived?
- Has it been more than 30 days since you paid? No: wait; cards often take 15–30 days
- Check the order status on myAadhaar with your SRN
- Does the status show a Speed Post (AWB) number? No: call 1947 with your SRN
- Does India Post tracking show it delivered or on its way to your address? No, returned or old address: update the address and reorder
- Ask your local post office with the AWB number
- Still nothing? Complain on 1947 with SRN and AWB, or download e-Aadhaar meanwhile
- No refund: in our experience UIDAI doesn't refund the ₹75 if the card isn't delivered or is returned. A new order costs ₹75 again.
- Need proof of Aadhaar today? Download e-Aadhaar. It is equally valid.
- Complaint: call 1947 or email [email protected] with your SRN. See how to escalate an Aadhaar complaint.
PVC card, e-Aadhaar or a shop print: which should you get?
Our customers care most about two things: where it will be accepted, and the price. UIDAI says the PVC card has the same validity as e-Aadhaar and the Aadhaar letter.
| Form | Made by | Cost | Acceptance (our experience) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Aadhaar PVC card | UIDAI, sent by Speed Post | ₹75 | Valid like e-Aadhaar. No hologram since Oct 2025, so it is sometimes doubted, and the passport office may refuse it |
| e-Aadhaar (PDF) and its printout | UIDAI, digitally signed | Shop print ₹30–50 (our experience) | Printout accepted almost everywhere. Banks and the passport office want one with a verified signature |
| Biometric-verified e-Aadhaar print | Aadhaar centre | ₹30–₹40 | For people without a registered mobile (UIDAI's own Seva Kendras list ₹40) |
| Laminated printout from a shop | The shop | ₹30–50 (our experience) | It's a printout of your e-Aadhaar in plastic. It is not the PVC card |
| Plastic "PVC" card printed at a shop | The shop | About ₹100 (our experience) | Not issued by UIDAI. It is not the official PVC card |
Masked e-Aadhaar (only the last 4 digits shown) is accepted almost everywhere except for a passport, in our experience. For a full comparison, see e-Aadhaar vs PVC vs masked.
Our customers pick the PVC card and the laminated printout about equally. Shops nearby charge about ₹100 for a plastic card and ₹30–50 for a laminated print. Only the ₹75 card ordered from UIDAI is the real Aadhaar PVC card. For passport work, we give an e-Aadhaar print with a verified signature.
Can a cyber café or CSC order the PVC card for you?
Yes. In our experience a normal CSC or cyber café can order the PVC card, print e-Aadhaar and download it for you. It cannot update your Aadhaar details. For a new mobile, address or photo, go to an Aadhaar centre. That means an Aadhaar Seva Kendra, a bank or post office Aadhaar centre, or a CSC running an authorised Aadhaar centre.
- The official UIDAI fee is ₹75 for the card.
- The OTP comes to your mobile. Type it yourself, or give it only to the person at the counter in front of you, never over a call.
- Ask the shop for the SRN and the payment receipt.

What problems come up with PVC card orders, and how do you fix them?
| Your situation | What it usually means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| No OTP on the registered mobile | UIDAI site slow, or the mobile isn't really the registered one | Try again later. Or order with another mobile (no preview), or update your mobile at a centre; OTPs usually start in 1–2 days |
| Card not arrived after 30 days | Delayed printing or post | Track with the SRN and AWB, ask the post office, then call 1947 |
| Status stays the same for weeks | Users often report "Print in process" for weeks | Wait 30 days, then complain on 1947 with your SRN |
| Card sent to an old address or returned | Your Aadhaar still has the old address | Update the address, then reorder (₹75 again; in our experience no refund) |
| Wrong details on the card | Often ordered without a preview | Correct your Aadhaar first, then reorder |
| Passport office refused the PVC card | No hologram on cards since Oct 2025 | Take an e-Aadhaar print with a verified digital signature |
| Card lost or damaged | — | You can reorder any time for ₹75. Also see Lost Aadhaar: 5-step plan |
Ordering a PVC card from abroad
- You can order online if your registered Indian mobile still receives SMS for the OTP.
- The card is sent by Speed Post to the address on your Aadhaar. We have no confirmed information on delivery to addresses outside India; ask a family member at that address to receive it.
- No Indian SIM? Many NRIs can't get OTPs. Update your mobile at an Aadhaar centre on your next visit to India.

PVC card scams and frauds
- Order only on uidai.gov.in pages. Ignore SMS or WhatsApp links offering a "plastic Aadhaar at home".
- Never share your OTP or Aadhaar number with any caller, even one who says your Aadhaar "will be blocked".
- Don't install screen-sharing apps (AnyDesk-type) on a stranger's request.
- A plastic card printed at a shop is not the UIDAI PVC card. The official fee is ₹75; complain about overcharging on 1947.

Frequently asked questions
What is the Aadhaar PVC card fee?
₹75, including GST and Speed Post. It went up from ₹50 on 1 Jan 2026. If you see "Rs 50" anywhere, including on one part of UIDAI's own page, it is out of date.
How long does the PVC card take to arrive?
UIDAI's PVC order page says up to 30 days (its Online Services page says 10 working days). At our counter, cards usually take 15–30 days.
Can I order a PVC card without my registered mobile?
Yes, you can get the OTP on another mobile. But no preview is shown, and our team has seen cards with wrong details. Order this way only if you're sure your details are current.
Is the PVC card valid everywhere?
UIDAI says it has the same validity as e-Aadhaar and the Aadhaar letter. Since Oct 2025 the cards have no hologram, so some offices doubt them, and in our experience the passport office may refuse them.
Will I get a refund if the card doesn't arrive?
In our experience, no. The ₹75 isn't refunded if the card isn't delivered or is returned. Track it and complain on 1947 with your SRN.
Can I get the PVC card at a new address?
No. It always goes to the address on your Aadhaar. Update the address first, wait until it shows on e-Aadhaar, then order.
Is a PVC card from a shop the same thing?
No. A plastic card printed at a shop (about ₹100) or a laminated printout (₹30–50) is not issued by UIDAI. Only the ₹75 card ordered from UIDAI is the official PVC card.
Can I order a second PVC card?
Yes. You can reorder whenever you need, for example if the card is lost or your details change. Each order costs ₹75.
Can a cyber café order it for me?
Yes. A normal CSC or cyber café can order the PVC card, but it can't update your Aadhaar details.
Can I order the PVC card in the Aadhaar App?
Yes, in our counter team's experience. Besides the myAadhaar website, the Aadhaar App can be used to order it, for the same ₹75. The card still goes to the address on your Aadhaar.
Bottom line
Check that your address and details are current. Order on myAadhaar with your registered mobile so you see the preview, pay ₹75 and save the SRN. Allow up to 30 days. Keep an e-Aadhaar print for passport work. If the card doesn't come, call UIDAI's free helpline 1947.
