Types of Ration Card in the State
The Government of Uttar Pradesh issues three types of ration cards under the NFSA and state PDS system:

Who Can Apply
To be eligible for a UP ration card, the applicant must meet the following conditions:
- Must be a permanent resident of Uttar Pradesh with valid address proof in the state
- Must be at least 18 years old to apply as head of family
- The family must not already hold a valid ration card anywhere in India
- Annual family income must be below Rs. 2 lakh per year in rural areas and below Rs. 3 lakh per year in urban areas for PHH category
- The family must not own more than 5 acres of irrigated land in rural areas
- The family must not own a residential plot of more than 100 sq. metres or commercial plot of more than 80 sq. metres in urban areas
- Individuals who are income tax payers, government employees above certain grade levels, or own four-wheelers may be excluded
- Newly married couples who do not have a ration card can apply for a fresh one
- Individuals with expired or temporary ration cards can apply for a new regular card
Documents You Need to Apply
The following documents are required when applying. Collect these before starting your application at fcs.up.gov.in or the nearest CSC:
- Aadhaar cards of all family members
- Proof of residence - electricity bill, water bill, rent agreement, or bank passbook showing UP address
- Income certificate (for BPL/PHH/AAY category)
- Passport-size photographs of the head of household
- Bank passbook (first page) of the head of household
- Mobile number linked to Aadhaar
- For newly married couples: marriage certificate
- For migrants: proof of having surrendered ration card from previous state

How to Apply for Ration Card in UP Online
UP ration card applications are submitted offline through the Common Service Centre (CSC) or Tehsil office. There is no direct online self-application portal for new ration cards. The process is:
- Go to fcs.up.gov.in and download the ration card application form - select Rural, Urban, or Migrant as applicable.
- Print the form and fill it carefully in block letters with the following details: applicant name, address, family members, Aadhaar numbers, LPG/electricity connection details, income, and bank information.
- Attach self-attested photocopies of all required documents.
- Submit the filled form along with documents at your nearest Common Service Centre (CSC) or Tehsil Supply Office.
- Collect the acknowledgement slip with Reference ID after submission. Save it for status tracking.
- A field verification by the Supply Inspector will be conducted within 30 days.
- After verification and approval, your name is added to the NFSA eligibility list and a ration card is issued.
How to Check Ration Card Application Status
Track your ration card application using the Reference ID received at submission:
- Go to fcs.up.gov.in.
- On the homepage, click Ration Card Application Status.
- Enter your Ration ID or Reference ID and the captcha code.
- Click Get OTP for Application Status.
- Enter the OTP sent to your registered mobile number and submit.
- Your current application status is displayed on screen.
How to Check Ration Card List (NFSA Eligibility List) District-wise
The UP ration card eligibility list (NFSA list) shows all approved ration card holders district-wise, block-wise, and Fair Price Shop-wise. To check:
- Go to fcs.up.gov.in.
- On the homepage, under the Important Links section, click NFSA Eligibility List or Ration Card Eligibility List.
- A list of all 75 districts of Uttar Pradesh is displayed. Click on your district.
- Select your Town or Rural area.
- Select your Block and Gram Panchayat (for rural) or Ward (for urban).
- Select your Fair Price Shop (FPS) dealer name.
- The complete list of ration card holders under that FPS is displayed with ration card numbers, names, and beneficiary count.
- Click on a ration card number to view all family members listed on that card.
You can also search for your name directly on the eligibility list using your ration card number at fcs.up.gov.in by clicking Search Ration Card Eligibility List and entering your ration card number with OTP verification.
How to Download Ration Card (e-Ration Card)
UP ration card holders can download their digital ration card through two official methods:
Method 1 - Via DigiLocker
- Go to digilocker.gov.in or open the DigiLocker app.
- Log in with your Aadhaar-linked mobile number.
- Click Search Documents and search for Ration Card.
- Select the issuer as Food and Civil Supplies Department, Uttar Pradesh.
- Enter your ration card number and the required details.
- Click Get Document. Your UP ration card is fetched and saved in your DigiLocker.
- Download the PDF from Issued Documents.
Method 2 - Via Mera Ration App
- Download the Mera Ration app from Google Play Store.
- Log in with your Aadhaar number or ration card number.
- Your ration card details and current entitlement are displayed on the dashboard.
How to Add a Family Member in Ration Card
To add a new member (newborn child, newly married family member, etc.) to your existing UP ration card:
- Visit your nearest CSC or Tehsil Supply Office.
- Carry your existing ration card, the Aadhaar card of the new member, and the relevant proof (birth certificate for newborn, marriage certificate for spouse).
- Request the CSC operator to file an application for addition of family member.
- The application is submitted online and a reference number is provided.
- After document verification by the Supply Inspector, the new member is added to the ration card.
How to Link Aadhaar with Ration Card
Aadhaar linking is mandatory for all members to continue receiving ration. In UP, this is done at the Fair Price Shop using the ePoS machine:
- Visit your designated Fair Price Shop with Aadhaar cards of all family members and your ration card.
- Ask the FPS dealer to do Aadhaar seeding on the ePoS machine.
- Each member provides their fingerprint biometric for authentication.
- Confirmation is generated and an SMS is sent to your registered mobile.

Using Your Ration Card in Another State (ONORC)
If you are a UP resident working or living in another state, you can collect your entitled food grains from any Fair Price Shop anywhere in India using the One Nation One Ration Card (ONORC) scheme. You only need your Aadhaar number at the FPS in the other state. No transfer or new card is needed.
