Puducherry issues income certificates through the eDistrict portal at edistrict.py.gov.in - managed by the Directorate of Information Technology, Government of Puducherry. The portal supports four languages: English, Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam - covering all four regions of Puducherry UT. The income certificate is under the Revenue and Disaster Management Department. The issuing authority depends on which region you live in: Deputy Tahsildar for Puducherry and Karaikal, and Deputy Collector (Revenue) for Mahe and Yanam. Applications can be submitted online at the eDistrict portal, through CSC (Common Service Centre) operators, or offline at the nearest Deputy Tahsildar office or MRO (Mandal Revenue Officer) office. At CSC centres, a computer fee of Rs. 100 is charged per transaction in addition to any service fee. The toll-free helpline is 1800 425 2260.

Puducherry UT Has 4 Regions - Which Authority Issues Your Certificate

Puducherry is a Union Territory with four geographically non-contiguous regions. Each region has a separate administrative setup under the Revenue and Disaster Management Department:

Region Issuing Authority Location Official Site
Puducherry (main region - 5 Taluks) Deputy Tahsildar of concerned Taluk Puducherry puducherry-dt.gov.in
Karaikal (separate district since 2005) Deputy Tahsildar / Deputy Collector (Revenue) Duplex Street, Karaikal karaikal.gov.in
Mahe (enclave in Kerala) Deputy Collector (Revenue) / Regional Administrator Govt. House, Mahe P.O, Mahe 673310 mahe.gov.in
Yanam (enclave in Andhra Pradesh) Deputy Collector (Revenue) / Regional Administrator Mini Civil Station, Yanam 653464 yanam.gov.in

Mahe and Yanam are enclaves - Mahe is surrounded by Kerala and Yanam is surrounded by Andhra Pradesh. Residents of both regions apply through the same edistrict.py.gov.in portal but the certificate is issued by the Deputy Collector (Revenue) of their respective region, not the Deputy Tahsildar.

Portal Languages - Why 4 Languages Are Supported

The eDistrict Puducherry portal at edistrict.py.gov.in supports English, Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam. This is because each of the four regions has a different primary language: Puducherry and Karaikal are primarily Tamil-speaking, Mahe is a Malayalam-speaking enclave in Kerala, and Yanam is a Telugu-speaking enclave in Andhra Pradesh. You can switch the portal language by clicking on the language selector on the portal - தமிழ் for Tamil, తెలుగు for Telugu, and മലയാളം for Malayalam.

What is Quasi Application Tracking

The portal has two tracking systems - Track Application and Quasi Application Track. The standard Track Application at edistrict.py.gov.in/TrackApplication is for applications submitted online with a registered account.
