In Telangana, a Ration Card is officially called a Food Security Card (FSC). The state has approximately 97 lakh active FSC cards covering 3.1 crore beneficiaries. In July 2025, the Telangana government launched a new ration card distribution drive covering 5.61 lakh new beneficiaries - the largest expansion in recent years. The state is also procuring PVC QR Code Smart Ration Cards to replace older cards. All FSC services are managed by the Department of Consumer Affairs, Food and Civil Supplies, Government of Telangana through the EPDS portal.

Who Can Apply

  • Must be a permanent resident of Telangana
  • Must not already hold a Food Security Card (FSC) in Telangana or any other state
  • For PHH/FSC: annual family income below Rs. 1.5 lakh in rural areas and Rs. 2 lakh in urban areas
  • Land holding must not exceed 3.5 acres of wetland or 7.5 acres of dryland
  • Citizens holding temporary or expired ration cards can apply for a new card
  • Newly married couples are eligible for a new FSC

Documents You Need to Apply

  • Aadhaar cards of all family members (mandatory)
  • Address proof - electricity bill, water bill, or rent agreement
  • Identity proof - Voter ID, Aadhaar, or Driving Licence
  • Income certificate (for PHH/FSC and AAY/AFSC categories)
  • Caste certificate (if applicable for AAY/AFSC priority group)
  • Passport-size photographs of the applicant and all family members
  • MeeSeva application form duly filled and signed
  • LPG connection information and previous ration card number (if applicable)

How to Apply for New Food Security Card

Via MeeSeva Centre (Primary Method)

  1. Download the FSC application form from civilsupplies.telangana.gov.in under the application forms section or collect it from your nearest MeeSeva centre.
  2. Fill the form carefully - select FSC (Food Security Card) as the card type and provide all details: applicant name, head of household, address, and details of all family members including Aadhaar numbers.
  3. Attach all required documents.
  4. Submit at your nearest MeeSeva Centre or Civil Supplies Office along with the service fee of Rs. 30.
  5. Collect the acknowledgement slip with FSC Reference Number for status tracking.

Via Praja Palana Centres

Member additions and ration card services are also available at Praja Palana Centres across Telangana. Visit your nearest centre with your documents for assisted service.

After submission, your application is verified by the Civil Supplies Department. On approval, your FSC is generated and available for download on the EPDS portal within 15 days. You pay Rs. 10 per card copy at the time of collection.

How to Check FSC Application Status

  1. Go to epds.telangana.gov.in and click on FSC Search from the left menu.
  2. Select FSC Application Search.
  3. Select your District from the dropdown.
  4. Enter your MeeSeva Number or Application Number.
  5. Click Search. Your status is displayed - pending, approved, or rejected with reason.

How to Check Your FSC Card Details

  1. Go to epds.telangana.gov.in FSC Search.
  2. Select your preferred search method - FSC Reference Number, Ration Card Number, Old Ration Card Number, or Aadhaar Number.
  3. Enter the relevant details and select your district.
  4. Click Search. Your complete FSC details including all family members and card status are displayed.

How to Check the Ration Card List

  1. Go to epds.telangana.gov.in.
  2. Click on Reports from the top navigation.
  3. Under Ration Card Reports, click FSC Card Status Report.
  4. Click on your District Name.
  5. Click on your Office/Mandal Name.
  6. Click on your Shop Number (FPS).
  7. The complete list of FSC card holders under that FPS is displayed with card status.

How to Download Your Food Security Card

Via EPDS Portal

  1. Go to epds.telangana.gov.in FSC Search.
  2. Enter your FSC Reference Number or Ration Card Number and select your district.
  3. Click Search. Your card details appear.
  4. Click Download Ration Card or Print to save as PDF.

Via DigiLocker

  1. Go to digilocker.gov.in or open the DigiLocker app.
  2. Log in with your Aadhaar-linked mobile number.
  3. Search for Ration Card and select issuer as Food and Civil Supplies Department, Telangana.
  4. Enter your FSC card number and district.
  5. Click Get Document. Your Telangana FSC is saved in DigiLocker Issued Documents.

How to Add or Remove a Family Member

  1. Collect the Member Addition Form or Member Deletion Form from your nearest MeeSeva Centre or download from civilsupplies.telangana.gov.in.
  2. For adding a member: fill the form with new member’s name, Aadhaar number, date of birth, and relationship. Attach supporting documents (birth certificate for newborn, marriage certificate for spouse).
  3. For removing a member: fill the deletion form with the reason (deceased, migrated). Attach death certificate or migration proof.
  4. Submit at MeeSeva Centre or Civil Supplies Office.
  5. Collect acknowledgement number for tracking.

How to Link Aadhaar and Complete e-KYC

Aadhaar seeding and e-KYC completion is mandatory for all FSC holders in Telangana. Cardholders who completed e-KYC before 30 June 2026 continue to receive benefits. Those who have not completed e-KYC should do it immediately at their nearest Fair Price Shop.

  • Visit your designated Fair Price Shop with Aadhaar cards of all family members
  • Each member provides fingerprint biometric authentication on the ePoS device
  • Aadhaar seeding and e-KYC are completed simultaneously

Using Your Card in Another State (ONORC)

Telangana NFSA FSC holders can collect their food grain entitlement from any Fair Price Shop anywhere in India under the One Nation One Ration Card (ONORC) Scheme. Only your Aadhaar number is needed at the FPS in the other state. This is useful for Telangana residents working in Hyderabad, Mumbai, Delhi, or any other city outside the state.
