When Should You Renew Your Driving Licence?

  • You can apply for renewal up to 1 year before the expiry date of your DL
  • If renewal is applied within 30 days after expiry, the renewal takes effect from the original expiry date (no gap in validity)

Documents Required for Renewal

Step-by-Step: How to Renew Driving Licence Online

  1. Go to sarathi.parivahan.gov.in.
  2. Select your State. Always select the state where your DL was last issued or renewed.
  3. Click Services on Drivers License (Renewal/Duplicate/AEDL/Others) under the Driving Licence menu.
  4. Read the instructions and click Continue.
  5. Enter your Drivers Licence Number and Date of Birth and click Get Drivers Licence Details.
  6. Your DL details are displayed. Verify your name, address, vehicle class, and expiry date.
  7. Select Renewal of Driving Licence from the list of services shown.
  8. Fill in the renewal application form:
    • Confirm or update your address details
