The Mukhyamantri Swasthya Bima Yojana (MMSBY) West Bengal is a state health insurance scheme that provides cashless treatment coverage of up to ₹5 lakh per family per year. Beneficiaries can use the official sha.wbhealth.gov.in portal to complete MMSBY eligibility checks, online enrolment, card download, hospital search, package verification, and beneficiary-related services.

The State Health Agency, Government of West Bengal, manages the portal and has integrated both AB PM-JAY and MMSBY services on a single platform. As a result, many people search for terms such as MMSBY online apply, MMSBY registration, MMSBY eligibility check, MMSBY card download, and West Bengal health insurance scheme while looking for the same portal.

This guide explains the complete MMSBY registration process, eligibility verification, Aadhaar-based enrolment, card download procedure, empanelled hospital search, treatment package details, helpline information, and solutions to common enrolment issues.

How to Apply Online for MMSBY on the Portal

The online application, which many people call online registration, has four parts: you enter your Aadhaar number, complete eKYC, fill in a form and then wait for verification. None of it is difficult, so take it one step at a time.

Before You Start

Keep your Aadhaar card with you, because Aadhaar is compulsory for enrolment under MMSBY and the process cannot move forward without it. It also helps to keep your phone nearby, since identity checks through Aadhaar often use it. Finally, type your Aadhaar number only on sha.wbhealth.gov.in. The page says it sends the number securely to the server for the check, so there is no reason to enter it anywhere else.

Step by Step: Aadhaar, eKYC, Form and Submit

  1. Open the right page. Go to the eligibility check and enrolment page. You will see the heading "PM-JAY/MMSBY Eligibility Check & MMSBY Enrollment".
  2. Type your Aadhaar number. Find the box named Aadhaar Card Number and enter your 12 digit number slowly. Then check it once more, because one wrong digit sends you to the wrong record.
  3. Move ahead and complete eKYC. After the Aadhaar Card number, the portal takes you to eKYC, which is the electronic KYC check. Follow each instruction on the screen until it finishes.
  4. Look at the form. Once eKYC is done, the form fills itself in with your details. Read every line and make sure it is correct.
  5. Fill in what is missing. Some details will not appear automatically, so add the remaining information yourself.
  6. Submit the form. Press the submit button only after you have checked everything. If the page shows any reference or acknowledgement afterwards, save it or take a screenshot.
  7. Wait for verification. Your details are now verified. You do not need to do anything during this time.

After You Submit: Verification and Card Download

When verification is complete, you receive a message telling you that your card can be downloaded. Open that message and follow its instructions to download the card. MMSBY works on individual cards, which many people call the Swasthya Bima card or the CM health card, and the portal says these cards are issued free of cost, so nobody should ask you to pay for yours.

If you are looking for an MMSBY status check, this message is how the result reaches you after verification. If no message arrives after a reasonable wait, call the helpline on 18003455384 or 14555 and keep your Aadhaar number ready.

Swasthya Sathi Cardholders: Can You Apply Online for MMSBY?

The portal carries an announcement on its home page for people who already had Swasthya Sathi. It says that Swasthya Sathi beneficiaries who do not hold an AAY, SPHH, PHH or RKSY-1 ration card can now apply online for MMSBY . So if you are in that group, the steps above are meant for you.

If you do hold one of those ration cards, or you are not sure which category you fall in, call the helpline before you apply, because the announcement does not explain that situation. A July 2026 report on All India Radio also said that existing Swasthya Sathi beneficiaries would be brought into the Ayushman Bharat framework. For a plain overview of the scheme itself, you can read the Mukhyamantri Swasthya Bima Yojana guide.

PM-JAY and MMSBY on One Portal: Key Differences

Because one portal serves two schemes, people often mix them up. AB PM-JAY is the central scheme. It gives cashless and paperless cover of ₹5 lakh per family per year at empanelled hospitals, and it also covers all senior citizens aged 70 and above, whatever their income. The portal adds that PM-JAY benefits work across India, and that enrolment for it happens at the nearest Common Service Centre using Aadhaar and Voter ID.

MMSBY is the state scheme, and its rules are easy to remember:

  • It gives cashless cover of ₹5 lakh per family per year on a floater basis, so the whole family shares one amount.
  • It places no limit on family size and covers all pre existing diseases.
  • It issues individual cards, free of cost, to every beneficiary.
  • It offers cashless treatment at all AB PM-JAY empanelled hospitals, and it does not reimburse bills.
  • It allows only one health scheme per person, whether that scheme belongs to the state, the Centre or a public sector undertaking.

In short, if you are not covered under Ayushman Bharat, MMSBY is the state scheme meant for you. A news report on the launch of both schemes says the same. If you want the scheme explained on its own, the MMSBY scheme page on GovtSchemes covers it.

Benefit Packages Page: What You Will See

Open the Benefits Packages page when you want to know which treatments the cover includes. The portal says the health benefit package in use is HBP 2.2, with nearly 1,960 treatment packages across 27 specialties. Each package is all inclusive, so it takes in registration, consultations, tests, medicines, medical consumables, food, accommodation, and care before and after hospitalisation, including follow ups for up to 15 days.

If you like to study the full lists yourself, the home page also shares three spreadsheets for HBP 2022: the procedure list, the implant list and the stratification list.

How to Find an Empanelled Hospital on the Portal

The portal says more than 1,500 government and private empanelled hospitals offer fully cashless treatment. To find one near you, follow these steps.

  1. Open the hospital search page.
  2. Choose your district in the filter.
  3. Read the names of the hospitals that appear.
  4. Pick one that is close to you, and call the helpline if you want to confirm anything before you go.

If you prefer a full list, download the government hospital list or the private hospital list. Remember to carry your Aadhaar to the hospital, because MMSBY needs Aadhaar authentication at the time of admission and again at discharge.

Links on the Portal That Open the NHA Website

A few links on the home page do not stay on sha.wbhealth.gov.in. The "PM-JAY Eligibility Check", "Vay Vandana Scheme" and "EKYC" links all open beneficiary.nha.gov.in, which belongs to the National Health Authority. The home page also links to the AB PM-JAY online grievance site, the Hospital Empanelment Module and the Beneficiary Identification System.

Do not worry if you land on one of these sites. Your MMSBY enrolment still happens on the portal's own eligibility check and enrolment page.

Helpline, Email and Office Address

The helpline works 24 hours a day, seven days a week, on 18003455384 and 14555. You can also write to [email protected], and the portal says the team replies as soon as possible. The office of the State Health Agency is at Swasthya Bhavan, GN-29, Sector V, Salt Lake City, Kolkata 700091. All of these details are on the contact page.

If you have a complaint or a suggestion, use the feedback page. For problems connected to AB PM-JAY, you can also use the online grievance site.

Which Website Is Which?

West Bengal has several health websites, and they are easy to confuse. Here is how to tell them apart:

  • sha.wbhealth.gov.in is the State Health Agency portal. Use it for MMSBY and AB PM-JAY.
  • healthscheme.wb.gov.in is the West Bengal Health Scheme portal, which serves government employees, pensioners and certain other groups. It is a different scheme.
  • swasthyasathi.gov.in is the Swasthya Sathi website, which belongs to the state's Swasthya Sathi scheme.

Typing the Name Differently?

People spell this scheme in many ways, such as MMSBY , Mukhyamantri, Mukhya Mantri or Mukho Montri Swasthya Bima Yojana. Others search for it in English as the Chief Minister Health Insurance Scheme of West Bengal or the CM Swasthya Bima Yojana. They all mean the same scheme, and the correct address for it is sha.wbhealth.gov.in.

Common Problems and Quick Fixes

  • The form will not move ahead. Check that you typed the Aadhaar number correctly, because Aadhaar is compulsory at enrolment.
  • eKYC does not finish. Start again from the Aadhaar step, and call the helpline if it still fails.
  • You cannot enrol because you already have another scheme. MMSBY allows only one health scheme from the state, the Centre or a public sector undertaking, so you cannot hold two.
  • The card message has not come. Verification may still be going on, so wait a little and then call the helpline.
  • A hospital asks you to pay. MMSBY is cashless and has no reimbursement, so report the matter through the helpline or the feedback page.
