A Scheduled Tribe (ST) certificate issued in Delhi is meant for eligible persons who belong to a Scheduled Tribe notified in their state of origin and are currently residing in the National Capital Territory (NCT) of Delhi. Since no Scheduled Tribe community has been notified specifically for Delhi under the Constitution (Scheduled Tribes) Order, 1950, the Revenue Department issues an Other State ST Certificate instead of a Delhi-specific ST certificate.
The certificate is issued by the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of the applicant's jurisdiction. Eligible applicants can submit their application online through the Delhi e-District portal or apply offline by visiting the concerned SDM office or a Citizen Service Centre (CSC).
Eligibility for ST Certificate in Delhi
You can apply for an Other State Scheduled Tribe (ST) Certificate in Delhi if you satisfy the eligibility conditions prescribed by the Revenue Department. Before submitting your application, make sure you meet the following requirements:
- You are an Indian citizen.
- Your community is recognised as a Scheduled Tribe in your state of origin under the Constitution (Scheduled Tribes) Order, 1950, as amended from time to time.
- You are ordinarily residing in the National Capital Territory (NCT) of Delhi.
- Your application falls under one of the applicable categories prescribed by the Delhi Government (explained below).
Eligibility is determined on the basis of your tribal community and supporting documents. A person cannot obtain Scheduled Tribe status through marriage alone. Since Delhi does not have any Scheduled Tribe communities notified specifically for the NCT, applicants are issued an Other State ST Certificate only if their community is recognised as a Scheduled Tribe in their state of origin.
