Application Process to Apply Delhi Domicile Certificate

One of the legal documents that a person may require to show that they are residing in a certain state is domicile certificate or residence certificate. The government of NCT through its Department of Revenue issues the domicile certificate in Delhi. In addition, domicile certificate enables one to avail numerous facilities and plans offered to the residents of the Delhi Government.

✅ Eligibility Criteria

To apply domicile certificate in Delhi, the applicant should satisfy some conditions :-

  • Candidate must have a 3-year period or above residence in Delhi.
  • The married women of the permanent residents of Delhi are eligible as well.
  • Minors should also be citizens of Delhi.
  • The voter list should include the name of the applicant.
  • The certificate is granted in the case of minor based on the residence of their parents.

📄 Documents Required

During online applications, applicants must scan and submit the following documents :-

  • Voter ID (Identity proof) or Aadhaar Card.
  • Ration Card / Passport / Driving License (Household proof)
  • Birth Certificate or School Leaving Certificate (Age proof)
  • Permanent residency self-declaration or affidavit.
  • Passport-size photograph.

🖥️ Process to Apply Delhi Domicile Certificate

There is an e-District Portal where the Delhi government offers an easy method of obtaining a domicile certificate. Here’s a step-by-step guide.

  • Go to the e-District website of Delhi government.
  • New customers will be required to use Aadhaar ID, mobile number and email to create accounts. Current users have the ability to log-in using credentials. After entering the Aadhar number, click on Submit.
  • Mention the required details such as House No, area, Name of applicant, Father’s name, etc in the application form. After filling the details, click on Continue to Register.
  • On the right-hand side, open the Apply Online tab and choose the option of applying to receive services.
  • Select the button of issuance of domicile certificate in the list that appears and press the apply button.
  • Complete the application and post the necessary documents and send the form.
  • The status of the Delhi domicile certificate will be tracked by giving the status which is an application number.

Offline Application Process for Delhi Domicile Certificate

The individual who wishes to have the domicile certificate can address the Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) in the respective area or office of the Deputy Commissioner to seek the certificate. Following are some steps that one needs to follow who neds to apply for a domicile certificate: -

  • Download the domicile application form which is available on the Delhi e-District Portal.
  • You should complete the application form self-authenticated.
  • Once the application has been filled together with the required documentations, it should be handed over to the appropriate officer.
  • Then take your Application Number.
  • The certificate will be issued by the concerned authority within 14 days after the date of application.

⏱️ Processing Time

  • The processing time to issue a Domicile Certificate normally takes 14 working days.

🧾 How to Check Delhi Domicile Certificate Application Status

  • Open the Delhi e-District website.
  • Click the Track your application button on the right-hand side of the home page.
  • Choose the revenue department as the drop-down listed.
  • The option of the Applied for is the Issuance of Domicile Certificate, which is selected in the drop-down list.
  • Enter the application number, the name and captcha code and press the search button.
  • The status of domicile certificate will appear in the screen.

📥 Certificate Download Process

The process to download the domicile certificate has been shared below :-

  • The first step is to open the Delhi government e-District portal.
  • Click the button of the right-hand side of the home page that gives an option to print/ download the certificate.
  • Choose the department as revenue department out of the drop-down list.
  • For the Applied for option, choose the drop-down list option of Issuance of Domicile Certificate.
  • Enter the application number, date of birth, the captcha code and press the continue button.
  • The domicile certificate will be downloaded as the PDF.

💰 Application Fees

  • An applicant does not need to pay for application as Delhi government does not charge any fees for a Domicile Certificate.
