A Domicile Certificate, officially known in Maharashtra as the "Age, Nationality and Domicile Certificate is an important legal document that certifies a person's permanent residence in the State. A Domicile Certificate issued by the Maharashtra Government is required for availing of government schemes, scholarships, admission under state quotas, and for state government jobs.
โ Eligibility Criteria
Maharashtra Government will issue a Domicile Certificate to only those applicants who fulfill any one of the following conditions :-
- Born in Maharashtra.
- A resident of Maharashtra for a minimum of 15 years.
- Parents of the Applicants is a Domiciled residents of Maharashtra.
- Applicant is Lawfully Married to a Permanent Resident of Maharashtra.

๐ฅ๏ธ Domicile Certificate Maharashtra Application Process
Residents of Maharashtra can apply to get their Domicile Certificate of Maharashtra Government by applying it online through the Aaple Sarkar Sewa Portal, through the Sewa Kendra and through the Offline Application Form.
๐ท Online through Aaple Sarkar Sewa Portal
- The easiest and simplest way to apply for the Domicile Certificate in Maharashtra is through an online application form.
- Maharashtra Government has a dedicated portal named "Aaple Sarkar Sewa Portal" through which people of the state can apply for government services, including the Domicile Certificate.
- In Maharashtra, Domicile Certificate official name is "Age, Nationality and Domicile Certificate".
- To apply it online, applicants will have to open the Aaple Sarkar Sewa Portal, Select Citizen Login and click on "New User? Register Here".

- Registration on Aaple Sarkar Sewa Portal can be done in two ways, first is through Mobile Number and second is through creating basic profile by filling detailed application form.

- Select District, Enter Mobile Number (will be verified through OTP), enter User Name, Choose Password, Enter Name, Date of Birth and Age and click on Register.

- After Registration, Login in again on the portal with the help ofusername and chosen Password.

- A dashboard will appear in which the applicant will have to type Domicile in the Search Service area and have to choose "Age, National and Domicile Certificate".

- A list of services appears in front of the screen from which the applicant will have to again select the Age, Nationality and Domicile Certificate.

- The Maharashtra Domicile Certificate Online Application Form will have to be filled by the Applicant in 3 steps.

- In the first step, fill in the below mentioned information :-
- Applicant Details.
- Applicant's Address.
- Beneficiary Details and Relation.
- Birth Details.
- Education Details.
- Details about migration from another state. (if any)
- Certificate Reason.
- Upload all the required documents in the second step.
- And in the last step, make a payment.
- Portal will generate an Application ID after successful submission of the online application form domicile certificate of the Maharashtra Government.
- Officials from the Tehsildar Office will verify the submitted application form and document and generate the domicile certificate in favour of the applicant.
๐ท Online through Sewa Kendra
- Application to obtain a Domicile Certificate from the Maharashtra Government can also be submitted through the Sewa Kendra.
- Sewa Kendras are Common Services Centres through which people of the state can apply for government services.
- The applicant will have to visit the nearest Sewa Kendra with all the required documents.

- Visit the Sewa Kendra and request the operation to fill the "Age, Nationality and Domicile Certificate" of Maharashtra.
- The operator of the Sewa Kendra will fill out the online application of the domicile certificate on behalf of the applicant.
- A scanned copy of the documents will be uploaded by the operator in the portal.
- An acknowledgement receipt will be provided by the operator to the applicant after successful submission of the domicile certificate application form.
- Submitted Applications will be forwarded to the Tehsildar Office, which can be processed in 15 days.
๐ท Offline through Application Form
- Residents of Maharashtra can also apply for a Domicile Certificate through the Application Form, which is available for Rs. 10/- in the Tehsildar Office.
- The applicant will have to visit the Tehsildar Officer's Office and collect the application form of the domicile certificate.
- Take the Maharashtra Domicile Certificate Offline Application Form and fill it correctly.
- The applicant will have to attach all the required documents to the domicile application form.
- Maharashtra Domicile Certificate Application Form, along with all the attached documents, will be submitted in the Office of the Tehsildar.
- Officials from the Tehsildar Office will verify the received application form and documents.
- Tehsildar of the respective district will issue the Domicile Certificate in favour of the applicant if found to be eligible.
- The normal processing time to issue a domicile certificate is 15 working days.

- The average processing time of the Domicile Certificate in Maharashtra is 15 days from the date of application.
- The Tehsildar is the main authority who issues a domicile certificate in the State.
๐งพ How to Check Application Status Online
- After applying for the Domicile Certificate of the Maharashtra Government, the Applicant can also check their application status online.
- Open the Aaple Sarkar Sewa Portal and Click on Track Application.

- Thereafter, Select the Revenue Department, Revenue Services, Age, Nationality and Domicile Certificate and enter Application ID as shown below in the image.

- Aaple Sarkar Sewa Portal will show the current status of the Application of the Domicile Certificate.
๐ฅ Certificate Verification Process
- An applicant or anyone can also verify the authenticity of the issued Domicile Certificate of the Maharashtra Government.
- Visit the Aaple Sarkar Sewa Portal and click on "Verify Your Authenticated Certificate".
- Select Revenue Department, Revenue Services, Age, Nationality and Domicile Certificate and fill in the Application ID.

- If the domicile certificate is authentic, then the portal will show all the details.

- There is a nominal government fees ranging from Rs. 20/- to Rs. 50/- for the application of the Domicile Certificate in Maharashtra.
